IDPs from Abkhazia and South Ossetia have visited EUMM Headquarters and met with Ambassador Haber to share their views and concerns. Discussions concentrated on the difficulties encountered in crossing the ABL, identification documents, living conditions and education related issues in the two regions.
The Head of Mission assured them that the EUMM monitors in the field would continue to meet regularly with IDP representatives to gather first hand information of the situation on the ground and then liaise with the relevant national and international agencies to identify potential corrective actions.
IDPs welcomed EUMM’s efforts in establishing direct communication with them and expressed interest in continued cooperation with the Mission.
