The 12th Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism meeting took place in Gali on 9 February 2010. Georgian Government, de facto Abkhaz, Russian and EUMM representatives attended under the auspices of the UN.
In a constructive and productive atmosphere, participants discussed recent incidents. Procedures for detention and release as well as the need to ensure unhindered crossing of the Administrative Boundary Lines for the local civilian population were also discussed.
Other issues addressed included possible exchanges of information related to combating criminal activities as well as information sharing on planned military exercises, which constitutes an important confidence-building component.
The next meeting is scheduled to take place in Gali on 2 March 2010.
