FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT AND THE LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION IN GALI SCHOOLS WERE AMONGST THE ISSUES DISCUSSED AT THE TWENTY FOURTH INCIDENT PREVENTION AND RESPONSE MECHANISM MEETING IN GALI ON 31 JANUARY

Under UN chairmanship, the Georgian Government, the Russian and de facto Abkhaz authorities as well as the EUMM attended the twenty fourth IPRM meeting in Gali on Monday 31 January 2011.

In a respectful and professional manner, participants discussed recent incidents and evaluated the general security situation as calm.

They followed the issue of freedom of movement of local residents and exchanged information on other important matters such as the language of instruction in schools in the Gali district as well as cultural heritage preservation.

The next meeting is scheduled to take place in Gali on 22 February 2011.
