During their field trip to Georgia, a delegation of the Working Group on Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the EU Council visited the European Union Monitoring Mission to see their job at first hand on 15 October. The delegates were welcomed by Ambassador Andrzej Tyszkiewicz, the Head of EUMM at one of the three offices, Mtskheta.
Mr. Tyszkiewicz and senior members of the staff explained the mandate, the role and the everyday work of the Mission, as well as the overall situation on the ground. The delegates, divided into three groups and escorted my EUMM monitors, then visited the Administrative Boundary Line, a Georgian military installation and three settlements for Internally Displaced Persons.
