EUMM welcomes the release of detainees after the IPRM in Ergneti

29.05.2012
The EU Monitoring Mission welcomes the release in recent days by the de facto South Ossetian authorities of four people. The release took place one day after the parties came to an agreement at the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism meeting in Ergneti on 25 May. The detained persons were mostly jonjoli collectors who may have incidentally crossed the Administrative Boundary Line.

EUMM expresses appreciation to all the sides for their constructive approach.

The Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism meetings and the attached hotline are not only essential tools for confidence building but play an important role in facilitating livelihood issues for the population along the Administrative Boundary Line.
