On June 1st, as part of his official visit to Georgia, Mr Dirk Niebel, Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, visited the EU Monitoring Mission’s Field Office in Gori. The delegation was welcomed by Ambassador Andrzej Tyszkiewicz, Head of EUMM and briefed about the Mission’s contribution to stability and confidence building in the post conflict environment. Ambassador Tyszkiewicz expressed his gratitude for Germany’s support to the Mission with a large number of German monitors having served in Georgia. Afterwards, Minister Niebel joined an EUMM patrol to the Administrative Boundary Line in order to help him to form his own view on the current security situation on the ground and the Mission’s commitment to the normalisation process.
