On 1 August the EU Monitoring Mission visited the State Military Scientific Technical Centre in Tbilisi. The team was led by Ambassador Andrzej Tyszkiewicz, the Head of Mission.
The Mission’s mandate involves overseeing compliance with the 2008 cease-fire agreement and monitoring the security situation on the ground. In an act of transparency, the Georgian Ministries of Defence and Internal Affairs have voluntarily signed Memoranda of Understanding with the Mission that among other things, provide for the EUMM to monitor military installations.
The Mission welcomed the opportunity to observe the work of the facility and to discuss current projects.
