On 19 February Field Office Zugdidi of the EU Monitoring Mission marked its 10,000th patrol. It was performed by the Human Security Team that visited a kindergarten under renovation in Tsalenjika. Under the ‘Normalisation’ pillar of its mandate the Mission monitors how the local population is able to resume their everyday lives.
Since EUMM was deployed in Georgia after the August 2008 war, it has conducted more than 30,000 patrols and contributed significantly to improving the security situation along the Administrative Boundary Lines.
