HEAD OF MISSION VISITS ZUGDIDI

The Head of the EUMM Hansjörg Haber visited Zugdidi on Monday 17 November. He was able to meet the Chief of the Regional Police, the Governor, representatives of the local authorities in the region, the UNOMIG Chief Military Officer and members of staff of the EUMM Field Office. After his meetings Ambassador Haber commented: “ I have had a series of useful discussions here today. I understand that the people who live close to the Administrative Boundary Line feel afraid and have concerns about their security. We are concerned in particular about the recent incidents in this area, in Eritskal and Pakhulani, and hope that the relevant authorities will complete their investigations into these events as quickly as possible. We want to work with all the authorities on both sides of the boundary line to improve the situation for everyone.”
