The EU Monotoring Mission has received a delegation from Finland. On 13 June members of the Finnish Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Crisis Management Centre were welcomed by Ambassador Andrzej Tyszkiewicz, the Head of Mission, then were briefed about EUMM and its role in contributing to stability in the region.
The following day the delegation received a briefing about the current security situation along the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) to South Ossetia. The Deputy Chief of Field Office Gori, Michael Irish Stephenson gave an overview about the work of the EUMM Monitors on the ground. Afterwards, the delegation went on a patrol to see how monitors perform their duty in an operationally impartial way close to the ABL. On 15 June the delegation paid a visit to Field Office Mtskheta.
The visit was also an opportunity to exchange information between the Finnish contingent in the EUMM and the respective sending unit in Finland.
