The EUMM Field Office in Gori has welcomed two trainers from the Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) from Sweden. After a general briefing about the current security situation along the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) to South Ossetia the guests accompanied a patrol. The ABL-Team took them to two villages very close to the ABL and the Swedish visitors were able to observe the situation there. The visitors were grateful for the opportunity to see for themselves the work of the Mission on the ground and were deeply impressed about what the Mission is doing to maintain stability and build confidence.
The Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) is a Swedish government agency dedicated to improving the quality and effectiveness of international peace intervention. In cooperation with Swedish and international partners, the FBA works in the fields of conflict prevention, rebuilding processes, research and development. The FBA also recruits and trains civilian personnel and hosts peace and reconciliation processes. 31 Swedish Monitors are currently deployed In the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia.
