The Foreign Ministers from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Latvia and Lithuania, who were on a trip to Georgia with their colleague, the Romanian Foreign Minister, visited the HQ of the EU Monitoring Mission on 17 September 2012. They were welcomed by the Head of Mission Ambassador Tyszkiewicz and given a comprehensive briefing about the progress the Mission has made over the last four years and the current challenges.
Commenting after the meeting, the Ministers stressed the importance of the Mission in “cooling the temperature on all sides”, emphasised that the work of the Mission should continue, said it was important to allow for freedom of movement of the local population and added that it was very helpful to learn how the Mission was dealing with this issue, and pointed out that their countries not only supported the Mission politically but physically by sending staff to the Mission.
