On 25 November staff from Field Office Zugdidi of the EU Monitoring Mission attended the National Food Festival in Khurcha, close to the Administrative Boundary Line. The festival was aimed at bringing different communities together and drawing attention to the importance of a healthy diet. The event also encouraged Georgian - Abkhazian and Ossetian dialogue via the exchange of culinary and cultural experiences. Traditional dishes from all regions of Georgia and delicious food from various nations and ethnic groups, including the cuisine of Abkhazia and Ossetia, were presented. Visitors could taste freshly boiled khinkali, Ukrainian sala, various cakes and numerous other foods. There were also folk dance and singing performances and local handicrafts on display.
EUMM Field Office Zugdidi also took the opportunity to start promoting the 16 Days of Activism for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls, which was much appreciated.
