09.01.2013

On 9 January, Ten Broeke, the Chairman of the Defence Committee of the Dutch Parliament, visited EUMM. He was welcomed at HQ by the Head of Mission, Ambassador Tyszkiewicz, and given a briefing on the role and work of the Mission and the current security situation at the Administrative Boundary Lines. "It is important that the European Union Monitoring Mission keeps its mandate", Mr Broeke said, “My country fully supports the good job that the Mission is doing to maintain the security of the local population”. The focus of Mr. Broekes visit was to see how the Mission has progressed since it was launched in 2008. After a thorough briefing and discussion at the Mission HQ, Mr Broeke visited the EUMM Field Office in Mtskheta where he and the accompanying Dutch Ambassador to Georgia, Pieter Langenberg received information about the work of the Field Office before joining a patrol to the Administrative Boundary Line at Odzisi in challenging weather conditions.
