On 28 January Rear Admiral Emmanuele Bottazzi, the Italian Defence Attaché visited the EU Monitoring Mission HQ. He was accompanied by Mr Eugenio Carlucci, the Deputy Head of the Italian Embassy in Tbilisi. They were welcomed by the Head of EUMM Ambassador Andrzej Tyszkiewicz and David Turner, Military Liaison Officer of the Mission.
The Defence Attaché who is resident in Ankara and also represents Italy in Georgia and Azerbaijan, received an update on the Mandate, recent activities, as well as on the environment the Mission operates in. The visitors were most interested in the current security situation on the ground, especially along the Administrative Boundary Lines.
At the end of the meeting Admiral Bottazzi thanked the Head of Mission for the useful information. Ambassador Tyszkiewicz in return expressed his gratitude to Italy for the staff the country sends to the Mission, as well as for the financially contribution and political support.
