Globally, 1 in 3 women have been subjected to intimate partner violence, non-partner sexual violence, or both at least once in their life. Gender-based violence continues to be a global human rights violation due to pervasive social and economic inequality, women’s limited participation in politics and the public sphere, and harmful and discriminatory social norms, stigma and gender stereotypes.
EUMMs 16 Days campaign will be kickstarted on Friday 25 November by a simultaneous staff event in our Headquarters in Tbilisi and 3 Field Offices in Mtskheta, Gori and Zugdidi, with opening remarks by Head of Mission Marek Szczygieł. Over the following 16 days, EUMM colleagues will participate in different outreach activities together with civil society organisations, schools and local communities, to raise awareness about gender inequality and gender-based violence.
