On 28 March the Human Security Team of EUMM’s Field Office Zugdidi attended the monthly NGO information-sharing meeting (or ISM) chaired by the Georgian Young Lawyers Association (GYLA) in Kutaisi.
In total fourteen NGOs from the Imereti Region, amongst which the International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED), Transparency International (TI), INER Georgia, SOS children, Youth Parliament and Abkhas Interkont, provided information about their ongoing projects. All projects focused on social, political and economic issues, with a special focus on Internally Displaced People (IDPs).
ISFED announced that it will observe the by-parliamentary elections in Bagdati on 27 April, while Abkhas Interkont is working on the rehabilitation of a farm house in RACHA, with the support of the Japanese Embassy, and Dialogue between Generations is planning an event on the International Day of Earth on 22 April.
As to INER Georgia, they are planning a ‘March for Life’ on 05 April at 14:30 in Kutaisi to protest against the death of a one-year-old child in Batumi last week. The child allegedly died of starvation, which drew attention to the difficult living conditions of socially vulnerable people in the region. INER Georgia invited all participants to join the march.
