On 20 December Toivo Klaar, the Head of the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM), attended to an introductory meeting with His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Head of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
The meeting was held in a warm atmosphere and the conversation was open and friendly. The Head of Mission and His Holiness discussed the issue of freedom of movement and Toivo Klaar informed the Patriarch that EUMM constantly raises the issue, particularly during the religious holidays. In this regard, at the latest Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) meeting the Mission again called on the sides to show more flexible approach towards the visits of family members, relatives or friends during the upcoming holiday season.
