On 09 September Member of the European Parliament and rapporteur on Georgia Andrejs Mamikins who was on an official two-day visit to Georgia visited EUMM and joined patrol with the Field Office Gori along the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL).
“The main purpose of my visit to Georgia was to meet Georgian politicians and see how things are working with the European Union Monitoring Mission. I am in the process of preparing my report on the Association Agreement between Georgia and the EU for the European Parliament”, the MEP said during his visit.
Andrejs Mamikins who was accompanied by Adviser for Foreign Policy in the European Parliament Eldar Mammedov traveled with the patrol that headed to the villages of Nikozi and Ergneti. Guests were able to familiarize themselves with the existing situation on the ground. The visitors showed great interest in the work of the Mission while attending the patrol organised by EUMM.
“This was a very useful visit. I did not only
meet the President, the Prime Minister and other Georgian officials, but also
saw on the spot how EUMM is working here after the war of 2008. Visiting the
ABL was very useful for me”, Mamikins said.
