On 08 December, EUMM Field Office Mtskheta visited the school at
Tserovani IDP settlement, where it presented information about the 16
Days of Activism against Gender Violence to approximately 100 school
children. The children heard about EUMM’s White Ribbon campaign and an
EUMM Monitor from the Netherlands talked to the kids about his
experience as a Dutch police officer dealing with different types of
violence. The EUMM Gender Advisor who was in attendance commented that
the youth at the school in Tserovani must have been hard at work
preparing as they held a lot of knowledge about different types of
violence and actively took and wore white ribbons in support of the
campaign to end violence against women and girls. The kids also
presented EUMM with their own depictions of violence through skits, film
and a live music performance.
It was a positive experience for both the children and the EUMM Monitors who participated and presented!
