In the framework of the celebrations of the International Womens Day 2015, Mtskheta Field Office participated in an outdoor event on the main square in Mtskheta, close to the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. The event was co-organised by the Mtskheta branch of the NGO Gender Equality Network and the nation-wide womens movement. The main purpose with the event was to support and empower Georgian women into decision making positions.
FOM used the occasion to, for the first time, display the new EUMM portable photo exhibition. The exhibition, accompanied by a patrol of monitors, drew lots of attention from people who passed by. The monitors spoke about EUMM in general and about womens role in peacekeeping work in particular. Most of the people who took part of the event were local residents, and some were tourists from Russia, Lithuania and Ukraine.
