On the morning of 13 May, the 16,000th patrol, since Field Office Zugdidi commenced its operations in October 2008, left Field Office Zugdidi (FOZ).
Patrol No. 16,000 went to the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) and observed the general security situation, borderisation and the freedom of movement in the area – one of the important tasks that Field Office Zugdidi has been fulfilling for many years now, and will continue to carry out in accordance with the mandate of our Mission.
The Mission’s efforts have been to observe the situation on the ground, report on incidents, and, generally, through its physical presence, contributing to improvement the security situation for the communities on both sides of the ABL.
People living the area often say that they feel more secure when an EUMM patrol is near, which is a great motivation for the monitors.
