EU Day is celebrated throughout Europe to remember May 9th, 1950 when the French Minister for Foreign Affairs, Robert Schuman laid the foundations of the European Union.
Over the last few weeks, the EUMM has celebrated EU Day with a series of interesting events, public outreach activities, conferences and presentations across all four Field Offices. The celebrations were opened by the EUMM Head of Mission Ambassador Hansjörg Haber at Field Office Tbilisi (Mtskheta) on April 24th.
EUMM HQ’s contribution to EU Day is a photo exhibition; “Photographing Home” is a collection of pictures taken by children residing in remote villages or small towns in Tbilisi, Gori, Khashuri and Zugdidi regions. EUMM monitors across Georgia distributed disposable cameras and asked children to take pictures of their homes, their daily lives, their families and schools. The most representative pictures will be displayed in the Tbilisi Marriott Courtyard Ballroom from 12.00 on Saturday 9 May until 17.00 pm Sunday 10 May.
A media point will be organized at 1400 on Saturday, 9 May in the Tbilisi Marriott Courtyard.
