Tbilisi, 12 October 2021 – The EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM) hosted today the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Ingrid Brocková, on a field visit to the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) with South Ossetia.
EUMM’s Head of Operations, Brian Alija Richard, and Deputy Head of Field Office Mtskheta, Ewa Suwara, welcomed the State Secretary in the Odzisi area where they briefed her on the most recent security and humanitarian developments on the ground.
At the Odzisi crossing point, they further highlighted the challenges that conflict-affected communities continue to face on both sides of the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) in light of the protracted closure of the Odzisi crossing point and ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
At the end of the visit, the Slovak State Secretary thanked the Mission for the briefing and for its continued contribution to stability as the only international monitoring mission on the ground.
Eight Slovak nationals are currently serving in the Mission as monitors in the Field Offices.
