"On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the war between Russia and Georgia, the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia wishes to pay tribute to all those who were affected by the war. We remember the lives lost and the hardships endured by civilians, and our thoughts are with the families who continue to bear the pain of their loss.
It is essential to remember that the consequences of armed conflicts are long-lasting, and the road to reconciliation and recovery can be challenging. Particularly as managers of the Hotline mechanism and co-facilitators of discussions in the Ergneti Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM), we unwaveringly support all efforts to find lasting solutions that benefit the conflict-affected communities.
As we commemorate this anniversary, our Mission reiterates its dedication to fostering stability, peace, and security in the region. As an impartial monitoring Mission, we will maintain our constant presence along the Administrative Boundary Lines and continue our confidence-building work. We remain steadfast in our commitment to create a conducive environment for a peaceful solution to the conflict.”
