Today, 13 July 2016, EUMM Head of Mission (HoM) Kestutis Jankauskas, at the invitation of the FSC Polish chairmanship, addressed the OSCE Forum for Security Co-operation (FSC) Security Dialogue on EUMM’s contribution to stability in Georgia. His speech followed a presentation by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia, David Dondua.
HoM presented the work of the Mission in Georgia to the 57 OSCE participating States. He emphasized that the security situation remains relatively stable but fragile and not free from challenges.
He further provided examples of daily Mission activities and how EUMM contributes to maintaining stability and security on the ground and also prevents possible escalation of hostilities in case of incidents.
HoM underlined that EUMM access to Abkhazia and South Ossetia would benefit everybody by the Mission providing an impartial and factual picture on many issues.
The large number of delegations around the table thanked the Mission for its important and good work which Head of Mission attributed to teamwork on the part of all international monitors and national staff.
